David Sliff grew up in the small seaside community of Hermosa Beach, California. He attended Hermosa Valley School and Mira Costa High School and then Santa Monica College after spending some time in New York. He was excited to begin his dream of becoming a research scientist and started out as a physics major. Education was a passion that David had and this became the emphasis for creating his foundation in order to help students in financial need achieve their academic goals. In addition to helping students succeed, David’s foundation will also support the work of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (afsp.org) and other mental health organizations such as the Trevor Project and the Jimmy Miller Foundation, that focus on research to eliminate the underlying causes of suicide.
